Ignorant marketing approaches.
Somewhat recently, I got an email from this lovely woman named Julia Taylor. She wanted me to write a review or just link to a product called SnapIt Screen Capture.
Naturally, I don't have much of a use for this product. (I'm not sure who does, honestly.) So I made her a counter-offer.
I'm not sure she even heard me...
So I once again reminded her of what I offered and gave a definite rate.
I haven't heard back in over six days. A shame, because I really would have honoured my part. No joke.
Dear jovan,
May I ask you to place the link below to our Screen Capture
Software 3.7.77066 anywhere on your blog? If you agree, please send me the
link where you placed the link and I will present you with a license of
SnapIt.
Here is the link:
Screen Capture Software

Sure!
I will put a link in my blog to the product once we work out what my monthly fee for ad space will be. Since I'm not as big as Ask Andy About Clothes (where I moderate), I would charge lower than Mr. Gilchrist does, which is already quite reasonable.
Let me know what you think.

Dear Jovan,
Thank you for your desire to create a review. Please send me the link to your
review as soon as you create it, then I will send you a registration code.
Please mention in your blog about a giveaway for your readers if they also create
a review in any blog/forum/twitter/facebook, etc, and contact me with link to the review,
I will issue a reg code and name for them.

Sounds good, but that can wait until we agree upon a monthly fee, as I mentioned in my previous email to you. I don't believe I agreed to do a review. That would be out of place on a blog like mine (which is about clothes). Since Ask Andy About Clothes charges $5 for a 30 day period for advertising, I'll only charge you $4 a month. Does this sound good to you? I'll even put it up in the sidebar to my blog (not just one blog post) for as long as you continue to pay your monthly advertising fee.
Look forward to hearing back from you.

Time honored method: shovel it out, see what sticks. Probably somebody, or a bunch of them, went "Oh, Boy, I want me some of that!"
ReplyDeletepeople crack me up, she obviously wanted to get around the money part and just get straight to her deal... that is so unfair.
ReplyDeleteHa! I just found this exact email in my SPAM folder. Good to know that Julia Taylor is not interested in purchasing ad space...
